MORRISONS NEW LINES.

By Sandra Gee on Jan 22, 12 01:53 PM

If you are yearning for something to liven your tastebuds look no further than these new lines in MORRISONS SOUTHPORT.

Tubs of cheese cubes to snack on. The variety that took my fancy was Edam cheese cubes which were fused with hot chillies perfect for nibbles, salads, sauces etc. They are delicious and handy to have in the fridge.

Another gorgeous new line is Kalamata olive Tapenade which is wonderful spread of
crackers or toast. If you like interesting spreads then this is one to try.

There are too many new lines to describe so have a wander up and down the lines and I feel sure you will fill up your basket very easily.

FLUTTERBY BEAUTY SALON

By Sandra Gee on Jan 8, 12 11:22 AM

Lisa Carlin opened her salon, FLUTTERBY on Lord Street having returned to her roots
after living in Lanzarote where she ran her beauty business for many years.

With the help of her husband Ged, whose business is MANABOUTHEHOUSE, the empty shell was transformed into a lovely stylish salon within a few weeks.

Lisa is offering holistic therapies, including ear candling, reiki, indian head massage and of course manicures, pedicures and a wide range of facial and body treatments.

The most popular nail treatment is SHELLAC which you can choose from a huge selection of colours and glitters and it lasts for 2/3 weeks, although I have found it has stayed perfectly for 4 weeks. The huge bonus is that it dries instantly, none of the usual stress of smudging straight away.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS.

By Sandra Gee on Jan 2, 12 04:41 PM

A most welcome christmas gift was No7 Revitalising Hand Saviour which is brilliant, its an
exfoliator and moisturiser for hands and it really works and leaves your hand so smooth. You use just a tiny amount on dry hands and then rinse off and there is also a range of other products to choose from.

Among the wide range of mascara products that now seem to come in bright colours, I resisted the ultra modern packages and opted for a reliable brand REVLON. I bought
"Grow luscious plumping" mascara which is absolutely great.

I was quite suprised to discover in ALDIa wide range of makeup products. I always have trouble finding a lipstick that suits me and the lip gloss often are quick sticky. I decided to try their LACURA LIP GLOSS
in Nougat and was amazed at how long it stayed on and how smooth it was, so
much so that I returned and bought another one in case the colour was discontinued
ALDI KEW SOUTHPORT.

Whilst there I was tempted to try their new CONTINENTAL APPLE TART and was not disappointed , it was delicious.

On a very miserable damp evening I was transported into the Catalonian area of Spain with the help of delicious food and great wines.

You have probably guessed I was at FINOS TAPAS BAR where I was at an evening based on the food of the Catalonian area and it was just fabulous.

Each course was accompanied by a carefully chosen wine which was introduced and described by the wine supplier.

The first course would be my favourite to take to a desert island was scallops, but with a twist, as they were topped with what seemed like haggis. This was followed by a deep fried medley of hake, king prawns and calamari in a Alhambra beer batter served with a citrus Alioli, It was simply delicious and moreish!!

I had mixed feelings as I read the description of the next course which were Pig's cheeks on a Oxtail reduction, my fears were quickly dispelled as I tasted the delicious unctuous meat that had been cooked long and slow.and just melted in your mouth.

By this time I was feeling rather full but when the wooden board arrived with the fabulous display of charcuterie I was soon tempted to taste yet again. My favourite was the Iberico Chorizo which was so different to the type that is available in local stores, it had a deep smokiness to it. All this was accompanied by toasted almonds and fresh figs

Next was the most interesting cheese slate dotted with flavoured olives yum yum.

I never thought I could be tempted to a desert after the many courses but once again I succombed and was blown away by the mousse that contained sherry soaked raisins and the most delicious chocolate terrine and yes more..... the Santiago tart served with orange sorbet.

however, what will always remain in my thoughts were the tiny pearls that decorated the dessert plate which when you bit in them released a flavour of gorgeousness!!!

The various wines were equally wonderful and were chosen with great care to accompany each course..

Bob Warrior the charming host is planning to hold this type of evening each month majoring on a different area of Spain and I would definitely urge you to book your place as I feel sure you will not be disappointed.

FEATHER FLICKERS.

By Sandra Gee on Nov 20, 11 01:16 PM

What an exciting Saturday morning I enjoyed. Beata arrived from FEATHER FLICKERS complete with a tray of necessary materials.

She was with me for 3 hours and blitzed my house,. She wasn't fazed by having to clean my very large windows, or mirrored doors on my high wardrobes.

She was a lovely pleasant girl who was really obliging and it was a pleasure to return to my house later to be greeted by gorgeous fresh smells.

I would not hesitate to book a slot again, also ideal for a Xmas present as a treat which I am planning for my daughter who also works full time and runs a busy home

WINTER COATS.

By Sandra Gee on Oct 21, 11 09:37 PM

I have become an avid follower of Gok's T.V. prog, i think he is a genius the way he puts things together and makes the most of accessories.

I was in dire need of a new winter coat and had spotted one in his programme, it was orange with big black buttons, of course he tarted it up with thigh lenths black boots and a huge belt.

I noted it was from PRIMARK so on my next trip to LIVERPOOL headed to the store to find racks of the coat in a host of different colours.

However, I was drawn to the orange coat and plumped for it and it was actually passed by my critical test panel at home who thought it was fabulous.

So the moral of this piece is that if you are in need of a winter coat I suggest you take a trip to liverpool and wander round Primark where you will be spoilt for choice!!

FORMBY BOOKS have now opened in Darbyshires on Chapel Lane, it is the brainchild of Tony Higginson, best known from Pritchard's Bookshop. Its a great idea as the atmosphere is small and cosy and he already has a great selection of interesting books. Once you have made your choice you can just move along the store to the lovely "Tea Room" run by Jennifer Jones where you can indulge in coffee and delicious cake while reading your new book.

I picked up the new cookbook written and shown on T.V by Lorraine Pascale and I am looking forward to trying some of her interesting recipes.

TONIGHT (THURSDAY) THERE WILL BE A BOOK SIGNING BY RONALD GREEN who has launched his new bnook "NOTHING MATTERS A BOOK ABOUT NOTHING". It will take place 6-7 and will be in the form of a Video presentation so well worthwhile going along.
