ESTEE LAUDER EYE SHADOW BASE.

By Sandra Gee on Apr 28, 08 10:14 PM

Another really good product from estee Lauder. Do you suffer from crepey eyelids which makes smoothing in eye shadow so difficult. Help is at hand in this little pot of magic. Just use your finger tip to apply a small amount and then your eyeshadow glides on and stays where you want it all day.

EXTRA SPECIAL KORMA COOKING SAUCE

By Sandra Gee on Apr 26, 08 12:48 PM

To make a simple dhal just combine about 200 gr of red lentils with a jar of cooking sauce and simmer until the lentils are soft. You may want to add some stock to make it slightly thinner in texture.

Made with this Extra Special Korma Cooking sauce produced a mild curry flavoured dish but of course you can use any variety.

I find it so useful to keep in the fridge to just re-heat when I am too busy to cook.

FINEST BREAD & BUTTER PUDDING

By Sandra Gee on Apr 26, 08 12:18 PM

There are many bread and butter puddings to be had but this one takes some beating. Made with thick slices of brioche layered with jumbo raisins soaked in amaretto makes for a delicious moist pudd. Don't be tempted if you are on a slimming diet.

LOTHANTIQUE SCENTED CANDLE

By Sandra Gee on Apr 20, 08 09:09 PM

The last months have been difficult trying to adjust to living the life of a "singleton". It has made me realise how very fortunate I am to be able to get pleasure from the small things in life.

Having a bath in some lovely smelling oils, eating some interesting food, making the most of enjoying the odd few hours of sunshine, and getting phone calls from wonderful friends who care about me.

As evening falls I like nothing better than having candles lit that give off a mild fragrance and have usually gone to La vie Francais in the Wayfarer's Arcade to buy them. Whilst enjoying a hot choccy in the cosy cafe I make the decision as to which fragrance to choose. This time I was steered to a new one which comes in a smart white box, so would be lovely to give as a gift.

It has burned so evenly and the ginger fragance is just delicious. The other bonus is that everything in this really interesting emporium filled with all things french is that all the goodies are half price at the moment!!

QUEENSCOURT STAR TREK

By Sandra Gee on Apr 13, 08 09:35 AM

Watching the London Marathan today has given me feelings of panic as caught up with the enthusiasm of a few friends I volunteered to walk the Star Trek Ladies Night Walk to raise funds for Queenscourt Hospice.

My husband spent his last week being cared for at this most amazing haven and I felt I wanted to give something in return.

My problem is that a few months ago I was disagnosed with a groin sprain and although I have tried various treatments nothing seems to have cured it.
Soooo I am walking regularly and just hope that it improves enough for me to take part.

Any cures are most welcome and if you are tempted to do the walk then contact 01704 544645 or email fundraising@queenscourt.org.uk

HOMEOPATHY

By Sandra Gee on Apr 8, 08 07:59 AM

Rochelle Marsden RSHom, local Registered homeopath says that hay fever is a deep-seated condition, which requires constitutional treatment from a qualified Homeopath. Orthodox medical treatment can manage the condition with powerful drugs that have a number of harmful side effects but constitutional homeopathic treatment over two or three seasons may cure the condition completely. It is best to begin constitutional Homeopathic treatment before the season starts than try to control it once it has started.
During your actual hay fever it is always worth trying a homeopathic combination remedy from Boots or Health Shop like Pollena but there is no guarantee that the remedy your hay fever needs is in that mix. Some find the New Era Tissue salts for Hay Fever are all they need. Both cost less than a prescription!!!
Rochelle can be contacted on 01704 560626 or via her website www.southporthomeopathy.co. and I have had amazing results each time I have paid her a visit.

MARKS & SPENCER BALSAMIC GLAZE

By Sandra Gee on Apr 6, 08 09:51 AM

Should I be faced with a decision as to my favourite food to take to a desert island, there would be no hesitation in choosing calves liver or scallops.

Calves liver is my particular favourite and I had the pleasure of eating it at the very gorgeous, opulent Owen's Restaurant in Houghton Street

It was served pink on a bed of delicious mash which was flavoured with wholegrain mustard. Drizzled over was the most wonderful flavour of balsamic which I couldn't wait to try to replicate at home.

I played with many different ingredients before using Marks & Sparks Balsamic glaze, which is thicker than the normal vinegar and has a wonderful sweetness about it which is also good over strawberries, so I was a very happy person.

There is now a great variety of cooks ingredients at Marks & Spencer Food Hall so do allow time to browse and let me know of any particular favourites you have come across.

ECOTAN TINTED SELF-TAN SPRAY.

By Sandra Gee on Apr 5, 08 08:37 AM

Looking at myself in the mirror this week has not been a pretty sight, as apart from the many other reasons ,my skin looked almost grey. Spring has been short lived so I desperately needed help with some fake tan, and as I was going to the Grand National with Sefton Chamber of Commerce it needed to be instant.

There is such a huge variety of products to choose from but I have been blown away with the results of this small spray can of Ecotan Excel Tropical. From the first application my skin took on a really natural, non orange, instant colour.

I imagined it would need a few more applications but no, after just using it once it has not faded over the last few days so for me its a real winner.

Its available by mail order and also at salons nationwide. Have a look at www.ecotan.net for various other products in the range and for stockists you can ring 0845 86205126.

DO LET ME KNOW HOW YOU GET ON WITH IT, AND ALSO ABOUT ANY OTHER PRODUCTS YOU HAVE FOUND THAT HAVE WORKED FOR YOU. sandragee60@tiscali.co.uk
