Sefton Chamber of Commerce held an informal networking evening for new members at Fifty One The Promenade Southport.

There were about 40 guests and the evening was hosted by the charming Omi Naidoo and his wife Kay who are a delight.

The restaurant has a lovely ambience, is very simple in design and has a very interesting, mainly fish menu.

Omi, Kay and their lovely team served our members a most interesting selection of canapes. Deliciously tempting were the variety of deep fried seafood selection, smoked salmon and cucumber, and cream cheese nibbles. They also served oysters which the brave ones amongst the guests tried.

All in all it was a most successful evening and at the Chamber we received many emails complimenting us on our choice of venue and organisation of the evening.

As the evening went so well we plan to hold more of this style of networking event in the future so watch this space or log onto www.seftonchamber.com for details.

Morrison's is such a large store now that the range of products is growing and growing and it is always exciting for a "foodie" like me to browse.

On my last visit I came away with two new lines that are certainly worthing trying.

AINSLEY HARRIOTT VEGETABLE SPELT
is a wholesome blend of pearled spelt and vegetables, spelt is rather like barley. It is becoming really popular has a nutty flavour and amazing nutritional properties, its a perfect accompaniment to any chicken or meat dish. You can also roast some cherry tomatoes in the oven and stir them through the cooked spelt for a light meal.

MEAT SEASONING A new stand has been introduced which is full of interesting herbs, spices etc. I picked up a tin of meat seasoning which I have used to sprinkle onto chicken, sausages etc. and its really spicy and fabulous. But do take the time to have a look at the many other products in this range.

COLOURMEBEAUTIFUL

By Sandra Gee on Sep 18, 09 10:12 PM

Have you ever noticed that certain shades of the same colour can make a huge difference to how you look when you wear them.

I had a great time with Carol Macdonald who is the local "COLOURMEBEAUTIFUL " consultant based at the FIT4BIZ centre, next to M & S in Formby Village.

Carol tried various colours in the forms of scarves placed near my face and it was amazing that one shade of red could enhance my skin tone and yet another could really drain it.

She also offers makeup advice and will even spend a day with you to give you shopping advice to enhance your appearance.

Its a great session to give someone as a birthday, xmas present. You leave with a wallet containing all the colours suggested to compliment your skin tone which I have kept in my bag ever since and consult when purchasing any item for my wardrobe now,.

The supermarket shelves are awash with cereals these days and I have bought so many that sound wonderful only to find they are full of ingredients that are just not my scene.

However, at the Southport Flower show recently, which was a great event, I was given a sample of Kellogg's Nature's Pleasure to try and it was lovely.

Naturally I couldn't wait to buy a full size box assuming I would be disappointed by the time I had eaten my way halfway through, but that has not been the case,it is full of seeds baked with honey and mixed with raspberries & cherries.

It is available with almond, pecan & cashew or apple & blackcurrant or almond pecan & raisin which I feel sure will all be as delicious as the variety I have tried.
